Zero Data Promise

We know nothing about you. And we like it that way.

The Short Version

Meechi runs on your device. Your data is stored on your device. We have no servers, no database, no analytics, and no cookies. We literally cannot see your data even if we wanted to.

1. Local Storage

Everything you write, every thread you create, and every setting you change is stored in IndexedDB directly inside your browser.

We recommend Backing Up your data regularly to keep your sanctuary safe. (Google Drive Backup coming soon).

2. No Analytics

We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or any tracking pixels. We do not know:

  • How many users we have.
  • Where you are located.
  • What you are writing about.

The only "metrics" we have are GitHub stars.

3. AI Model Privacy

  • Local Models (WebLLM/Ollama): Run 100% offline. Zero data leaves your machine.
  • Cloud Models (OpenAI/Gemini): If you use these keys, your data is sent directly from your browser to their API. It does not pass through a Meechi server (because we don't have one). You are subject to their respective API privacy policies.

4. Communications Data

If you email us for support, we will see your email address and message.

  • We use this data solely to respond to your inquiry.
  • We do not add you to marketing lists.
  • We do not sell this data.

We build in the open so you don't have to trust us blindly. Security experts can audit our code to prove we aren't spying.
