Common Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. Meechi is a local-first interface. You get local AI for free via WebLLM. You can also bring your own AI (Gemini, OpenAI via API keys) or sync to your trusty cloud storage for free. We don't charge a subscription.
Where is my data stored?
On your device. Meechi uses your browser's secure local storage. Data is encrypted at rest using a key that never leaves your machine. We have no servers to see your content even if we wanted to.
Do you use cookies?
No. We don't track you. We don't use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or tracking pixels. The only 'storage' we use is for your own settings and data, which stays on your machine.
Can I use it offline?
Absolutely. If you use local models (WebLLM or Ollama), Meechi works completely offline. It is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that you can install on your device.

Powered by MLC-AI. Meechi runs 1B-8B quantized models (Llama 3, Gemma 2, Phi 3) entirely inside your browser memory.
IndexedDB Persistence
Your "Ship's Log" is stored in a local, encrypted-at-rest browser database. We have no backend mirrors.
Offline Capable (PWA)
Install Meechi on your device. It works 100% offline. No internet required for local models or notes.
Zero-Knowledge Architecture
We don't even have a database. Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.
Desktop Sync (Lagom)
Use our lightweight desktop bridge to sync your browser memory with local markdown files. 100% data autonomy.
Open Core
The engine (@meechi-ai/core) is Open Source (AGPLv3). The UI is proprietary. You can audit the intelligence, but the experience is unique.
