The Browser Prison

By design, modern browsers are highly protective. They isolate data to prevent websites from accessing your files. While this is a privacy feature, it creates a challenge: your browser memory is temporary and can be wiped by the system without warning.

The Bridge to Autonomy

The Desktop Bridge is how we solve this. It provides a secure, local-only tunnel that allows Meechi to reach out of the browser and persist your thoughts directly into Markdown files on your physical disk.

Important: Data Sovereignty

Using the File System Access (FSA) API in the browser alone carries a risk: if your browser cache is cleared or your site permissions reset, you could lose access to your local vault. The Desktop Bridge eliminates this risk by maintaining a persistent, native connection to your local file system.
